Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership Strategic Plan

The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership is a private/public sector, community-based partnership that works to continually increase the economic activity in the County of Lambton. Local business leaders, educational institutions and municipal governments work together to maintain a commercially attractive environment, foster new business creation and ensure that established firms remain and grow in the region.

The Sarina-Lambton Economic Partnership Strategic Plan will provide recommendations to guide the economic development efforts for the region for the next three to five years. The strategic plan will build upon the region’s strengths and opportunities while reflecting the needs and aspirations of the eleven municipalities and three first nations communities in Lambton County. The plan’s primary objective is to create economic growth, improving the quality of life, income and living standards for all.

The Strategic Planning process will include economic and statistical analysis, broad stakeholder consultation, analysis of the region’s strengths, opportunities, aspirations and results and establishing strategic priorities. The plan will establish the regions’ economic development goals, objectives, actions and performance measures.

As SLEP rounds out the 2015 – 2018 Strategic Plan it is the perfect time to plan for the next 3 – 5 years. In so doing, we look to maximize the County’s quality of life, income levels, economic opportunities and overall living standard.

We want to build on our past successes with a vision to future opportunities. Much work has been accomplished exploring new industries and processes that build on our inherent business strengths. With a change in senior management at SLEP, it is a good time to review and assess where we are with many of those initiatives and to see how we can assist developments to yet a new level.

The SLEP Board has recently been restructured to ensure that Lambton County as a whole is considered and represented and involved in all aspects of economic development efforts.  The new Plan, as well, needs to recognize that a lot has changed on the global political and economic front in the last few years. It is important that Lambton County understands the implications and opportunities arising from this reality.
